25On Semiconductor, which promotes energy efficiency innovation, has expanded its range of modems for industrial communications applications based on high-speed addressable remote sensor (HART) communication protocols. Ansenmei Semiconductor recently became the HART Communications Foundation. Now it has launched the latest low-energy HART application program. The new NCN5193 single-chip CMOS device supports Bell 202 frequency shift between 1200 Hz and 2200 Hz, and can provide 1200 bit/second (bps) half-duplex data rate. The device includes a built-in power amplifier, a 17-bit sigma-delta (_-_) digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and a fast response watchdog mechanism. It provides engineers with a very sophisticated HART solution, which not only has a high cost performance, but also saves space. The voltage range of the device is from 3 V to 5.5 V. In standby mode, only 190 microampere (mu A) current is consumed when the system clock is running (76 mu A when the system clock is not running). In order to maintain a minimum power budget, the receiving circuit is closed during the transmitting phase, and similarly, the transmitting circuit is closed when the IC is in the receiving process.
